Anyone familiar with this building will notice that I forgot to reverse the image when I transferred it to lino, however I actually prefer the composition! The honeycomb building behind it is a modern office complex, and it's great to have the historic buildings integrating into the modern, and also being repurposed (in this case it's been a restaurant and has now been re-configured as office space). It sits on the city centre inner ring-road, and took its name from the adjacent meat market, where the modern fire station now stands.

This is a hand-carved and handprinted open-edition linocut of the historic Smithfield pottery in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, the print area is roughly A5, and the paper is just smaller than A4. The solid colour versions are printed with Schminke water-based ink, and the ombre versions with Caligo Safe-wash oil-based relief ink. Both are on Japanese Ho-Sho paper. Please use the drop-down menu to choose your print colour.
