My background is in Graphic Design and although I'm now retired I still enjoy the creative process. A lot of my work features birds and flowers and I particularly love combining different materials and patterns to create colourful, one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces.

Full description
A recent addition to my Birds & Blooms collection is this handsome folk bird, surrounded by exotic blooms and eyeing up clusters of ripe, shiny berries.
This one-of-a-kind textile picture has been stitched by hand using a selection of fabrics, including batiks. I've used inks to create the background and to add shadow.
The bird has been made by intricately layering fabrics to create his colourful plumage and I've used a few pretty embellishments cut from embroidered trim and a range of embroidery threads, including metallic, to add texture and detail.
There's a scattering of gold sequins and a generous sprinkling of seed beads which adds a lovely bit of sparkle.
The artwork comes in a good quality double mount and is backed with acid-free board. It comes framed in a Nicola Spring shadow box which has a strut back. The outer measurements are 225 x 275mm. Visible area is 125 x 175mm. It is titled and signed on the reverse.
I've made a matching tag in case you're sending it as a gift.
Please note the photos have been shot without the glass to reduce glare and some shots are of the artwork prior to framing.
