Full description
I'm not surprised the cheeky robin is Britain's favourite bird and I've chosen to feature him in this textile artwork. 'Robin in Springtime' would make a lovely gift for any nature lover.
I've used a selection of batik fabrics for the background, mixed with a few pretty floral patterns that have a vintage feel. The robin has been made by carefully layering and hand stitching a selection of fabrics to represent his plumage, including lace which I've coloured with inks to create the soft, downy feathers on his breast.
I've used embroidery threads to add texture and variations in colour to his plumage and to create his beak and legs.
The blossom has been given a mix of seed bead centres and I've hand stitched a matching flower which I've offset to integrate the blossom into the picture.
I've made a matching tag in case you're sending it as a gift.
The artwork comes in a good quality double mount. Outer measurements 10 x 8 inches. Visible area 7 x 5 inches. It is titled and signed on the reverse.
