Full description
This small, colourful mixed media painting would make a unique gift for a bird lover.
'Blue tit and cow parsley' is the second of three new mixed media pieces in my 'Birds & Blooms' collection. This piece was created on a canvas covered board which had thick layers of gesso applied to create a textured surface. I added layers of acrylic paint and then scraped and rubbed the surface to allow small areas of the background colours to appear. I also used acrylic inks and pastels to add color and shading.
Texture was added using torn strips of origami papers and leaves and stems cut from gelli plate prints.
The outer frame of the picture measures 9x11 inches and the aperture is 4.5 x 6.5 inches.
The artwork is titled and signed on the reverse.
