I love hunting for treasure on the beach and along the shore, treasure as in beautiful pebbles, semi-precious gemstones ( oh yes you can find those too) fossils, minerals, driftwood, and ofcourse sea glass.
The thing that makes Seaham sea glass so special is its origins. It comes from the remnants of a huge Victorian bottle factory that operated in the town until its closure in 1921. The factory discarded its waste into the sea which over time became tumbled by the waves to create the sea glass that is there today with its naturally frosted appearance. Finding this treasure and recycling it into wearable jewellery gives the sea glass another life, which can also be passed down through the generations, and if the wearer is'nt too keen on the frosted look the glass can be rubbed over with a small amount of mineral oil, giving a crisper clearer look. I first created a piece as a commission over 15 years ago, it's more popular now and earth friendly.

Waves sterling silver Seaglass ring.
Pale green sea glass collected from Seaham has been set into a rubover bezel setting on a wide ring band of smooth waves .
The beautiful natural light frosted sea tumbled sea glass was collected by myself from Seaham beach, the transparent glass is almost circular but in a freeform shape created by the tumbling of the sea, I made the smooth wavey ring band and the setting to fit the glass.
The ring size is a size N 1/2 , the total band width is approximately 1.1 cm x 1.5 mm thick, the sea glass is approximately 1.2 cm
The ring is fully hallmarked and includes my unique makers mark.
The ring arrives in a gift pouch inside one of my handmade gift boxes.

A great gift for an ocean beach sea lover.
The sea glass was collected by myself from Seaham beach.
No treatment has been used, the glass has been cleaned only, the frosting being naturally created and caused by being tumbled in the sea.
This sea glass can have a clearer appearance if you prefer by simpley wiping a very little mineral or baby oil over the glass, removing any unwanted oil with a soft cloth.
