Goldstone is not a natural gemstone, but is a man-made glass, also called Aventurine glass.
Goldstone comes in brown, blue and green.
Brown Goldstone is made by allowing copper salts to dissolve in molten glass, then cooling the liquid very slowly, allowing octahedral copper crystals to grow. It is these crystals that give the sparkle and colour.
For blue Goldstone/blue Aventurine glass, cobalt is used instead of copper.
This gives a silvery-blue sparkle in a midnight blue stone, looking very much like stars twinkling in the night sky.

Full description
Dark blue and red sparkly necklace featuring a centrepiece of two 6mm Blue Goldstone puffed hearts around a 4mm high quality Austrian 'ruby' crystal bicone, which are set between trios of Austrian 'blue shade' crystal bicones.
To either side, two rows of 6mm Blue Goldstone beads are separated by a trio of 'ruby' Austrian crystal bicones.
The crystals are highlighted with tiny 1.8mm sterling silver rounds.
The necklace graduates from 6mm to 4mm blue Goldstone, embellished with another Austrian 'blue shade' crystal.
The Blue Goldstone beads are a deep, midnight blue, flecked with silvery blue that give the effect of tiny stars twinkling in the night sky.
The necklace fastens with a Tibetan silver rose-shaped toggle clasp that is nickel and lead free.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, this would make a lovely gift for a n anniversary, birthday, or as a treat for yourself.
This sparkly necklace measures approximately 17 inches (43cm), please contact me via the button below my shop banner if you would like it longer or shorter.
