The birthstones for October and Libra are Opal and Tourmaline.
Here I have used nuggets of natural Pink Opal, Pink Opal rounds and beads of faceted Pink Tourmaline in a rich, raspberry pink.
Pink Opal is a variety of common Opal, composed of Opal, Palygorskite and Chalcedony.
The Opal gives a soft lustre, Palygorskite gives the pink colour and Chalcedony adds patterns of white, grey and black.
Tourmaline comes in a range of colours, but I have chosen beads of a deep raspberry pink that are faceted to give a subtle glint in the light.
Rose Quartz, is sacred to Venus, Libra's planetary ruler.

Full description
Sparkly summer necklace in shades of pale pink, raspberry, gold and white.
The centrepiece features five Pink Opal nugget separated by 2.5mm faceted Pink Tourmaline beads and highlighted with gold vermeil spacers.
To either side, rows of 6mm Rose Quartz, Pink Opal and frosted White Jade are embellished with a trio of quality Austrian crystal bicones in the colours 'fuchsia', 'white opal' and 'light rose'.
The necklace graduates to 4mm beads of Rose Quartz and frosted White Jade, and fastens with a Tibetan style toggle clasp in the shape of a rose.
This clasp is nickel and lead free.
The natural Pink Opal nuggets are approximately 5x8mm in size, rough-cut oval shapes in shades of pale salmon pink with some white patches and inclusions of black Chalcedony.
The faceted, Pink Tourmaline beads add a pop of deep raspberry colour and a subtle glint when they catch the light.
Hand made in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, this would make a lovely birthday present, especially for someone born in October as Opal and Tourmaline are October birthstones.
Also makes an excellent gift for an anniversary, bridesmaid, best friend, or as a special treat for yourself.
