My inspiration for this spatula is to create one that is different to the normal shop bought one which are generally 1/4inch or 6mm thick, with thin handles. Ours have a thicker handles tapering to the stirring end at 6mm thick. As a person who is ageing the large handles are easier to hold and use, with rounded edges they are also gentle to the touch. The red Birch spatulas are 64mm or 2.5inch wide.

Full description
The timber used is red Birch, so it should not have any toxins when cooking meals. This spatula is coated sunflower oil to protect it from water ingress. This item is number SP04 and this is pyrographed on the handle as our items are original and limited editions. Shaped using a spokeshave, small chisel and a block plane, and finish with various grades of sandpaper. Then marinated in sunflower oil for 4 hours, wiped clean and polished with a soft cloth.

This spatula is made from organic, natural, solid wood and will distort if put near a heat source such as a radiator, it will also discolour if left in direct sunlight. The item you see here is the one you will receive and I have aimed to provide dimensions which are as accurate as possible. Please note that wood is a natural product and can be affected by its environment.
