These muted earrings feature chunky drops of Cornish surfite which has been bezel set in sterling silver and finished off with a simple sterling silver hook. The surfite has broad vertical stripes of olive green, navy blue and maroon giving a more muted appearance compared to many of the surfite earrings I make. The drops are a mirror matched pair. These dangle earrings measure 45mm (from top of the hook) by 18mm across, surfite is lightweight so comfy to wear all day. Comes gift boxed.
This surfite comes from Cornwall and is a build up of cured resin that forms during the glassing stage of surfboard manufacture making these earrings a great gift for a surfer. I cut this particular material myself and you can see the original block and a work in progress shot in the photos (the rough isn't included). Where the last drips of resin were falling into the bucket stalagmites were forming and then being surround by subsequent layers of resin. The eye pattern is achieved by cutting through those stalagmites. The rough material came from Toy Factory Surfboards in Newquay, Cornwall. Love the idea of surfite but want something different then drop me a message - I've got plenty of the rough left!
