One of the most loved common garden birds and year round song birds, there seems to be a connection between people and this small bird.
Much folklore, myths and tales surround this little creature.
Some say, can be symbolic of good luck, happiness and re-birth.
In Celtic folklore, the Robin is known as 'The Oak King of Summer'.
These Robin sculptures have been fired to a frost proof temperature which makes them safe to use outdoors, but is equally at home pushed into the pot of an indoor house plant.
Robins sing all year round, their Winter and Spring songs being different.
Each Robin is made with the same weight of clay, but each one is unique, so have been listed separately.

Full description

Hand modeled, these Robins start of as a solid ball of clay, textured with tools and brushes to create wings, feather like texture and other fine details.

When leather hard, coloured slips are applied before being carefully dried and placed in the kiln for a first firing.

After a biscuit firing, the Robins are much harder and can safely have layers of dark stoneware glazes and a bright red under glaze applied before receiving a final firing to a high temperature making the bird sculptures frost proof so suitable for outdoors.

This Robin measures approx 6 cm in length, 4 cm at the highest point and approx 4 cm at it's widest point.

Overall height inclusive of pine wood and linseed oil painted dowel rod is 32 cm.
