Full description

Beautiful handmade chess sets, chess boards and chess pieces crafted for you here in Ireland. With over 15 years experience and an honors degree in fine art your disposal.

A wonderful custom made Chess set made from reconstructed stone based upon the Mesopotamian poem The epic of Gilgamesh which is believed to be the earliest surviving great work of literature and the second oldest religious text.

The chess set is made from reconstructed stone and polymer and is coated in copper and gold metallic effect paint which has been age effected in keeping with the style and character of the pieces. This chess set is made from an original set of vintage artcraft molds that have long been discontinued.

The tallest chess piece (Gilgamesh) is 10cm tall with a 3cm wide base and the pawns (the cuneiform tablets) are 6cm tall with a base just under 3cm wide making this a substantial collection of chessmen.

The poem that this chess set is based upon tells the tale Gilgamesh the king of Uruk, and Enkidu, a wild man created by the gods to stop Gilgamesh from oppressing his people

This listing is for the chess pieces only. Board not included
