Beautiful handmade chess sets, chess boards and chess pieces crafted for you here in Ireland. With over 15 years experience and an honors degree in fine art your disposal.
This Listing is for a custom made beautiful Medieval Gothic Styled, Chess Set. The theme is in the style of the early figurative chess sets popular in Germany around the 14th and 15th centuries that were inspired by the Isle of Lewis pieces.
The gothic medieval design offers a delightful combination of high quality sculpting alongside a strong material feel.
In recent years this set has been much harder to find and it is with Great pleasure that I am able to offer it as a part of MourneStudios ever expanding collection.
The king is almost 8cms in height with a 3.25cm base which makes this striking chess set a perfect fit for a 45cm chess board.
Not much is known about the origins of this collection and when it was actually designed or by whom, so any information that anybody out there may have about the chess set is very welcome indeed.
The figures are rendered in vintage metallic Gold and silver antique effect and come complete with high quality felt bottoms.
As well as enjoying the aesthetic quality of playing chess with such a beautiful chess set, the act of playing chess itself has been linked to a variety of health benefits and is said to help develop perspective, improve memory, increase intelligence, deepen focus and elevate creativity.
