'Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations' (a.k.a IDIC or 'Kol-Ut-Shan') is a quotation so important to my eldest daughter that she has it tattooed on her back. My neurodiverse daughter, sees it as a validation that she is an utterly accepted and necessary part of the variegated universe. I personally also find it resonant of Charles Darwin's final words in The Origin of Species: 'from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.'
This print started out as an idea for a card for my daughter's 22nd birthday, which instead became a limited edition poster... This is why the number 22 is hidden in the poster as is the infinity symbol which is linked with autism, and neurodiversity in general. My use of numbers also represents diversity of letterforms combining in creative and unexpected ways.

'Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations' is a key philosophical concept from the Star Trek TV Series. Its meaning was described by its creator, Gene Roddenberry, as 'an ideal based on learning to delight in our essential differences, as well as learning to recognize our similarities.' It would make an ideal gift for a Star Trek fan. This quotation is sometimes very meaningful to autistic and other neurodiverse people, affirming their valuable and necessary place in the universe.
This limited edition print is produced using letterpress on A3 size acid-free heavy 300gsm Seawhite Cartridge paper which I have then individually hand-painted with a violet watercolour galaxy, white gouache stars and a miniature Starship Enterprise. PLEASE NOTE that each print is individually hand finished making each piece a unique work of art with a high degree of variation which means it will probably not be exactly like the one in the photograph.
This is a very limited edition of 22 prints. Each is hand signed and numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity, also signed by me, the artist.
Please note that the print will be posted to you in a cardboard tube and is NOT sold with a mount or frame.
Postage in the UK will be via Royal Mail, 24 hour tracked.
Postage to Europe is tracked and signed and it's best to allow a week.
Postage to the USA is tracked and signed and it's best to allow 10 days.
