Full description
Betta fish are beautiful fish, also known as Siamese Fighting fish. They are famous for their gorgeous colours and long, flowing fins and tails. Here is your chance to own one that is very low-maintenance and doesn't need a heated tank, filter, or food. He would also make an unusual and thoughtful gift for an aquarium enthusiast.
This fish has been made by sculpting wool into shape with a felting needle. I have blended a tiny amount of angelina fibre with the wool to give it a subtle added sparkle. (Angelina fibre is like the glitter of the felting world!) I have also sewn on a sprinkle of peacock-coloured seed beads. His fins and tail are made using locks as they grew on the sheep, which I have carefully washed and hand-dyed to retain their curl.
It measures approximately 12 cm (5 inches) in length.
The wool used in all of my soft sculptures has been ethically sourced, often from local farmers and shepherds. I like to support smallholders and small businesses wherever I can.
PLEASE NOTE that, as with all of my sculptures, this figurine is intended as a decoration only and is not a toy. Due to small parts and fibres it should be kept out of reach of children and animals. It is fairly fragile but if it is handled with care, it should last a long time. For care instructions, please see my FAQs on the front page of my shop, or below..
