I'm currently accepting commissions for original illustration, art or design for your home or business this autumn.

If you are looking for a special and unique gift, or perhaps just a piece of art that means something to you, you can commission me to create an original illustration or illustrated map to capture memories (of a special holiday, places you've lived, or things that have happened).

You can find out more about my commissions process on my website at www.coostie.co.uk/commissions

In 2024 Berwick-upon-Tweed are hosting a weekend of celebrations to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Old Bridge being opened to foot traffic.

James VI of Scotland crossed the original wooden bridge when travelling south to be crowned James I of England and didn't think much of its rickety state. So the Crown funded the building of a new permanent stone structure: work began in 1611 and opened to foot traffic in 1624 (and then subsequently to road traffic).

Alongside my pen and ink sketch of part of the bridge, I've also incorporated a crown encircling the rose of England and the thistle of Scotland. I've used an English Gothic-style for my hand-lettering (as this was popular in the 17th century).

Full description

A hand-drawn depiction of Berwick-upon-Tweed's oldest remaining stone bridge printed here in the UK onto sustainably-sourced eucalyptus paper using eco-friendly inks. This print is a lovely keepsake for anyone familiar with England's most northerly town, 2-miles south of the border with Scotland.

I created this Art Print to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Berwick Old Bridge in 2024. The print features a pen-and-ink study of the bridge, an entwined rose, thistle and crown (to nod to the role James I of England played in the bridge being built) and the dates of the work starting and then the bridge opening to foot traffic.

Free UK P&P. No frame included.

You may also like my eco friendly note card and wooden coaster in the same design.
