Campo del Cielo, which translates to "Field of the Sky," is a meteorite field located in northern Argentina, primarily within the Chaco and Santiago del Estero provinces. This area was first documented by Spanish explorers in 1576, though it had been known to indigenous people long before that.
The Campo del Cielo meteorites are believed to have fallen around 4,000 to 5,000 years ago. These iron meteorites originated from a larger parent body in space that was 4.5 billion years old.
