In Hindu mythology, moonstone was believed to be solidified moonbeams.
In fact, many ancient cultures associate the stone with moonlight - when light strikes moonstone, a phenomenon called 'adularescence' can be seen, which looks very like moonlight shining through clouds.
In ancient Rome, Moonstone was linked to the Moon Goddess Diana and was thought to bring love, wealth and success.
Moonstone is one of India's traditional wedding gifts, and is thought to bring luck in love.
It is a birthstone for June.
Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass.
Sometimes tiny gas bubbles, mineral crystals and rock debris are trapped within the lava as it cools, and these cause reflecting light to give a metallic sheen,
The colour of this sheen gives rise to 'gold-sheen', 'silver-sheen or 'rainbow' Obsidian.
Obsidian is thought to promote emotional balance and clarity of mind.

Full description
Each earring features an 8mm and 6mm bead of silver sheen Obsidian, topped with a 5mm Moonstone bead highlighted with tiny, 2mm faceted Obsidian and sterling silver beads.
The Obsidian beads are black with flashes of metallic silver sheen, but the silver sheen causes them to look silvery-grey or dark brown, depending on the light.
The creamy-white moonstone beads have a lovely, glossy sheen with glints of adularescence in the light, adding to the mystical appearance.
The overall effect is subtle and changeable.
A lovely 'gift for her', for a birthday or anniversary gift, a special thank you, or as a treat for yourself.
Moonstone is a birthstone for June and Gemini, alongside Pearl.
Hand crafted (by me!) in my home workshop here in Devon, UK.
These drop earrings measure approximately 1.35 inches (3cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
