Please enjoy browsing and should you buy a doll she will be packaged in an organza bag. I have been given literally hundreds and will use them until they run out rather than let them go to landfill. Also I have been asked why I don't often repeat combinations of fabric with the dolls. It is because I tend to buy remnant stock where I can, tiny pieces of fabric that are too small for most people to use. So often I have only enough to make one doll. I first made a mermaid doll five years ago and was never happy with them. They were too big and too bulky. This new pattern is much smaller and more feminine with a dainty tail and lots of embroidery details. They really are a joy to make and I love hunting down 'mermaid' fabric.
This little mermaid is a one of a kind lily pad mermaid inspired by the old folk tale of the river maid who married a king, with the one condition he never saw her bathe but he broke the rules and she left him with a curse.

Full description
Melusine is a tiny one of a kind lily pad mermaid, a new pattern and a smaller size. With silk and felt detailing accentuated with dragonfly themed charms and hand dyed scrim, she has a lily pad fabric tail with a silk fin. Inspired by this Acufactum fabric i wanted to create a lily pad rivermaid in green. This tiny mermaid has her modesty preserved with a well placed lily pad, which is embroidered and the design repeats on her hand.
Melusine has a green and white colourway with a tiny piece of malachite to her heart and fresh chartreuse hair within in which are pearl beads and tiny dragon flies. The scrim gives a nicely watery twist and makes for a great additional texture. Melusine is named for the European folk take
Each mermaid stands ten inches tall with a brass ring to her back to hang.
Not wicked sirens but gentle souls bobbing on the briny
She is, as are all my girls, warm and companiable with a touch of English whimsy. I hope she makes you smile.
