Pearls are thought to be a calming gem, associated with integrity, purity, loyalty and faith.
It is the traditional birthstone for June and Gemini, the stone for the 30th wedding anniversary, linked with love and marriage for thousands of years.
In ancient China pearls were believed to protect the wearer from fire - and fire-breathing dragons!
They are also commonly linked to purity and innocence, the moon, the Goddess Venus, tears shed by the gods, and the journey of the soul along the path of perfection.
Mother of Pearl is the name given to the lining or nacre of mollusc shells.
It is a unique combination of minerals secreted by molluscs such as oysters into thin platelets of calcium carbonate that have a width similar to light waves, which gives the nacre an iridescent, shimmering sheen.
Like Pearl, it is a birthstone for June and a popular choice for wedding jewellery.

Full description
Each of these striking earrings features a 15mm Mother-of-Pearl focal bead in the shape of a shell, topped with an 8x6mm Freshwater potato Pearl, highlighted with tiny 2mm gold vermeil spacer beads.
The shell is exquisitely detailed on both sides of the bead, has a delicate, creamy white colour and excellent lustre.
The Pearl is a pale, creamy-gold with a lovely sheen.
The beads are threaded onto gold vermeil pins and hung from gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a thick 18k gold plate - a much higher quality material, with greater durability, than standard gold-plated metal.

Hand crafted (by me!) in my home workshop, here in Devon, UK.
These drop earrings measure approximately 1.25 inches (3cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
