Initially based on a custom request for a little girl who loves tulips and tigers, and of course tea parties.
I really wanted to use a tulip patchwork block which I saw on a quilt believed to be from the 30s - the original was needle turned applique but I adapted it to my own modern style, and in colours to complement the stunning tiger fabric.

Full description
A stunning tea party themed playmat or patchwork quilt featuring Tigers and Tulips - all set out round a checkered tablecloth! With hand embroidered tulip motifs inspired by a 1930's patchwork block, and a friendly felt tiger in one corner, this would be a perfect gift for a child who loves tea parties.
Made to order especially for you, meaning I can personalise it with words - perhaps a child's name - or an additional motif - making each one a little different. The quilt in the photos been personalised with the words Tulip Tiger Tea Party, and an appliqued teapot and teacup.
The centre has a checkerboard of aqua gingham, and peach, cream and white tea party themed prints. This is bordered with peach-pink panels with a hand cut applique in each corner - securely machine sewed in place before being embellished with hand embroidery. Additional flowers and words are hand embroidered around the tiger, and final border of floral tiger print surrounds the whole quilt.
Backed with the same quality quilting cottons as the front, I interline my quilts and playmats with bamboo wadding so they are soft to sit on, and hand finish the double fold edge binding for neatness and extra strength.
Size 1m by 1 m (approx)
Care: can be machine washed at 30. Dry flat or tumble at low temperatures.
Fully toy tested to EN71 standards and bearing the UKCA mark, this playmat is safe for all ages.
Please do not use as bedding for babies under 12 months.
