Most items are dispatched within 2-3 working days, and I post Tracked 24 at a flat cost, no matter how many items you buy. (Cards and bookmarks are sent First Class, at a lower postage cost).

I’m Sharon, also known as The Old Button.
The name, The Old Button ( Y Hen Botwm in Welsh), is inspired by a box of old buttons my grandmother gave me when I started making my own clothes as a child. I have sewn as long as I can remember - tackling anything from wedding dresses, to making over 300 stage costumes in one season.
I live in South Wales with my fantastic husband and a black and white cat called Felix. Not very original I know, but that was his name before we adopted him, and he certainly looks like his namesake. Now retired from the NHS and with my grown up kids having flown the nest, my “me” time is sewing and designing and gardening.
Through "The Old Button Sews" I design and make an eclectic mix of hand crafted gifts for children and adults, using both new and recycled fabrics embellished with patchwork, hand embroidery and applique - and of course the occcasional old button or two. I especially love combining traditional techniques with modern contemporary prints and vibrant wool felt.
I want to encourage people to start sewing and have recently started a range of sew it yourself kits for embroidery and applique. I am hoping to expand these, and to develop patterns and kits for my children's play scenes and other toys, as well as my patchwork quilts and appliqued Christmas Stockings.
I have a zero waste philosophy, and try and use all my fabric scraps to make little gifts like mini hoop pictures, bookmarks and fabric cards. I have also developed a range of slow stitching kits full of beautiful vintage and reclaimed fabrics and trims.

Three gorgeous tags with vintage silk and lace. These are my favourite fabrics along with velvet. The fabrics on the tags are delightful. And the small buttons are so cute. Stitching is perfect. Absolutely love them. Thank you, Sharon.
