Hellebores - Christmas Rose
A framed modern botanical watercolour painting of the magical hellebore, captured in a constellation of nodding blooms, unfurling petals, and jewel-like buds. Soft washes of white, blush, and dusky violet are layered with delicate speckling and fresh green leaves, giving the flowers an almost otherworldly presence against the pale ground.
Since childhood, I have been enthralled by hellebores — flowers that appeared in the quiet corners of the garden, pushing bravely through leaf litter at the very edge of winter. They have long been associated with folklore and witchcraft, their historic use as a hallucinogen likened to that of the mandrake, lending them an air of mystery and ancient power.
The painting is signed on the front, measures 8 x 8 inches, and is presented in a 13 x 13-inch wood-effect frame.
The work is issued with a Certificate of Authenticity, carefully packed in a custom-made box, and promptly dispatched via Royal Mail tracked delivery with Royal Mail Medium Parcel Tracked 48 for the UK or International Tracked and Signed for Heavier for the USA
