Full description
This is my embossed ceramic keepsake dish, it can be used to keep your mementos safe. A butterfly motif has been added.
The butterfly has been a symbol of transformation, hope and faith for thousands of years. The butterfly is also a symbol of rebirth, since it goes through so many life cycles -- from larva to caterpillar to chrysalis and finally to a beautiful, flying butterfly.
This handcrafted ceramic dish has been created using the slab-work method and embossed with a mandala design before shaping into a mould. Once dried it has been bisque fired to 1000C and hand-painted with coloured glazes and a clear glaze has been added. After glazing it has had a second firing in the kiln to 1080C
.
Approximate size: 12.5cm x 14cm
Due to the handmade nature and natural materials each piece is unique with subtle variations in size, shape, and finish.
Self-adhesive cork has been applied to the base to protect surfaces.
