This is my sea green ceramic dish with butterfly makes a delightful keepsake dish. It is also food safe.
Approximate size: 17.5cm diameter x 3 cm height
The butterfly has been a symbol of transformation, hope and faith for thousands of years, The butterfly is also a symbol of rebirth, since it goes through so many life cycles -- from larva to caterpillar to chrysalis and finally to a beautiful, flying butterfly.
This handcrafted ceramic dish has been created using the slab-work method and a butterfly applied with slip. Once dried it has been bisque fired to 1000C. It has been lightly sanded and hand-painted with three coats of coloured glaze. After glazing it has had a second firing in the kiln to 1080C.
Due to the handmade nature and natural materials each piece is unique with subtle variations in size, shape, and finish.
