My background is in Graphic Design and although I'm now retired I still enjoy the creative process. A lot of my work features birds and flowers and I particularly love combining different materials and patterns to create colourful, one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces.

Full description

This unique little artwork was made using a fabric print of three vintage beetles. I recreated their bodies using embroidery threads, seed beads and iridescent jewel beetle wings. (The lifecycle of the adult jewel beetle is only a few weeks and they are allowed to die naturally before their wings are harvested to use in jewellery and embroidery.)

The artwork is displayed in a shadow box frame that measures 150mm x 200mm x 35mm deep. The visible area is 115mm x167mm.

The frame is free-standing and it has glass at the front. (The glass was removed whilst taking the photos to prevent glare.)

The item will be sent via Evri.
