My shop will be closed from 15th December until 26th December 2024. Wishing you all a peaceful and relaxing Christmas.
I love to work with clay – it’s such a responsive material – and the black surface of this particular stoneware gives a striking contrast to pastel coloured decoration. I use the minimum of tools because I like handmade to be literally that! Each of my shapes and designs are slightly different, so each is a ‘one and only’..
For display purposes only, not for food/drink use. Please use a mat to protect painted or polished surfaces.

Original handmade ceramics say so much about you, your home and your lifestyle. This black ceramic vessel works well as a container for your favourite small potted plant, (cacti and succulents could look great!) or as a vase for flowers or grasses. I make the form from soft clay, and then decorate each side by painting a lively motif of a leafy plant in a zigzagged blue pot. When the whole piece is dry, it’s fired in my kiln. I leave the outside of the vase unglazed to give a naturally matt surface, but finish the inside with tenmoku glaze so that it can hold water. The whole piece has a final firing to 1185 degrees C , so that the design fuses into the clay and the glaze vitrifies into a satin surface inside. The vessel will give a fresh modern look to your interiors whether you use it for flowers, grasses, to show off a potted plant, or just as an art piece by itself. Approx. 12.5x11x11 cm in a rounded squarish shape, with two little handles either side to set it off.
