After learning the beading techniques of Native American medallions, I have recently been inspired to recreate individual 'freeform' images from nature, such as this butterfly. Although I used a template for the basic shape, the decoration and colour of the creature developed naturally as I worked, and I am very pleased with how this lovely butterfly turned out- it looks so real!

Full description
Lovingly made, hand-beaded butterfly brooch, which also doubles as a pendant. Inspired by nature and made using purple/violet and blue glass seed beads and iridescent purple-blue large glass beads (these are even lovelier in real life). The butterfly's wings are accented with gold and red glass beads for the 'eyes'. The moving 'antennae' make the butterfly really real!
The back is finished in matching vivid purple felt. There is a pin fastener on the back and also a discrete secure jump ring, for alternative use as a pendant. You could even use it as a realistic hanging decoration if you prefer.
The brooch measures 9cm wide and 6cm high. I have edged it with large glass beads sewn in Picot style. It will arrive wrapped in tissue paper.
