My brother took a photograph of a tulip. I really liked the image so I cropped it and used a black background to stitch on. I really like the simplicity of the image.

This is a silk shaded depiction of a tulip on a black linen.
Silk shading is a time consuming technique often called needle painting. You stich with one single thread from a six stranded floss. Often there are five or six threaded needles in use at a time so colour changes can be made and colours blended.
I love the way the threads build up creating a unique effect.
It is set in a square habitat frame with a double mount.
