I wanted to create an illustration which captures the spirit of Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland, so I focused on creating ink drawings of 12 landmarks with a story to tell about the place and then added a splash of digital colour to give a fresh, modern feel.
From the Victorian lighthouse to the re-purposed Grade II-listed former public toilet, parts of the town’s Elizabethan fortifications, including the Bell Tower, and the earthen ramparts, as well as a Russian cannon, trophy of the Crimean War, the illustrations included in this art print hopefully give you a flavour of what makes the town so unique! I include a small card with each print that lists each landmark and why it is interesting.
