Seashore tote bag. This delightful tote bag is made from blue upholstery fabric, and has an appliqué and free-motion embroidery design featuring a boat sailing just off an idyllic sandy beach. The waves are breaking on the shore, and the beach has a ramshackle fence with a discarded fishing net, and a couple of small rocky outcrops. The scene is depicted in shades of blue, beige, cream, white and brown and incorporates many different fabrics and haberdashery bits and pieces. Some of the materials that make up the design include hessian, lace, fluffy yarn, jute ribbon, jute string, lace ribbon, lace net and fabric selvedge. I’ve also added two wooden star-shaped buttons which resemble starfish. The sea and rocks feature free-motion embroidered detailing. The bag is lined with nautical-style fabric in pale grey with narrow white stripes.
This seashore tote bag is a piece of textile art with a practical use. With its seashore theme, it would be ideal for special outings or holidays.
The approximate measurements of the tote bag are:
14 inches (35cm) high x 12.5 inches (32cm) wide x 3 inches (8cm) across the base. The handles are approx. 24 inches (60cm) from end to end, and are of a length that can be worn on the shoulder or carried as a handbag.
