Mother of Pearl is the name given to the lining or nacre of mollusc shells.
It is a unique combination of minerals secreted by molluscs such as oysters into thin platelets of calcium carbonate that have a width similar to light waves, which gives the nacre an iridescent, shimmering sheen.
A little miracle of nature.
It seemed an appropriate material to set of the beautiful, sparkling, pale gold coloured Swarovski scallop shell pendant.
Zircon is known for its brilliance and flashes of light.
These zircon properties are close enough to the properties of diamond to account for centuries of confusion between the two gems.
In the Middle Ages, this gem was thought to induce sound sleep, drive away evil spirits and promote riches, honour and wisdom.
These beads have been heat-treated to a beautiful sunset orange colour, and add sparkly hint of colour to the cream Mother-of-Pearl.
