Mother of Pearl is the name given to the lining or nacre of mollusc shells.
It is a unique combination of minerals secreted by molluscs such as oysters into thin platelets of calcium carbonate that have a width similar to light waves, which gives the nacre an iridescent, shimmering sheen.
A little miracle of nature.
It seemed an appropriate material to set of the beautiful, sparkling, pale gold coloured Swarovski scallop shell pendant.
Zircon is known for its brilliance and flashes of light.
These zircon properties are close enough to the properties of diamond to account for centuries of confusion between the two gems.
In the Middle Ages, this gem was thought to induce sound sleep, drive away evil spirits and promote riches, honour and wisdom.
These beads have been heat-treated to a beautiful sunset orange colour, and add sparkly hint of colour to the cream Mother-of-Pearl.

Full description
This pretty, summery necklace features a beautiful, sparkly, 18mm, Swarovski crystal, 'golden shadow' scallop shell pendant as a centrepiece.
The pendant hangs from a gold vermeil bail, and is set between a pair of burnt orange, micro-faceted Zircon beads, highlighted with tiny gold vermeil rounds.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold.
The necklace itself is made from 6mm and 4mm cream-and-white Mother-of-Pearl beads, embellished on either side with a pair of the faceted burnt orange Zircon beads surrounding a 4mm Swarovski 'silk' bicone.
These genuine Zircon gemstones add a subtle dash of colour and sparkle amongst the Mother-of Pearl.
The latter are a golden ivory colour with patches of white, and have a nice lustre and flashes of iridescent nacre.
The necklace fastens with a toggle clasp in an antique gold finish.
This clasp is easy to fasten and is nickel and lead free.
The necklace measures approximately 16 inches (41cm), excluding the pendant.
Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a gift bag.
