I have used white Zircon for these earrings as a substitute for Diamond, birthstone for April and Aries, but Zircon is also a birthstone for December, alongside Turquoise and Tanzanite.
Colourless zircon is known for its brilliance and flashes of light.
These zircon properties are close enough to the properties of diamond to account for centuries of confusion between the two gems.
In the Middle Ages, this gem was thought to induce sound sleep, drive away evil spirits and promote riches, honour and wisdom.
In ancient times, butterflies were believed to be messengers from the spirit world and were used as a symbol of long life, rebirth and transition.
The butterfly is commonly used in Chinese symbolism to represent joy and warmth.
The Romans associated butterflies with wedded bliss, and in Japan two butterflies indicate that a marriage is blessed.

These super-sparkly earrings feature two Swarovski crystal butterflies in the colour 'jet', one 8mm and one 6mm, bracketed with 2mm Onyx round beads and separated by a 3mm, micro-faceted white Zircon bead.
Above, a trio of white Zircon beads adds a lovely, diamond-like glitter against the jet-black butterflies.
The beads are strung onto sterling silver headpins and hung from sterling silver ear-wires.
These eye-catching drop earrings measure approximately 1.35 inches (3cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
Price includes delivery within the UK.
