“The Sitting Newfoundland sculpture is based on Monty. Monty is a wonderfully gentle giant with kind eyes, a luxuriously fluffy coat and a constant Newfoundland slobber. He was patient with me during his sitting and I could see how his presence was a big part of family life.
Monty was commissioned along with his companion, a St Bernard cross named Ellie and with a young girl named Kirsty. The intention was to have Kirsty sitting on a bench between the two dogs, on a low hill above the house.”
