The Walking Cat sculpture was commissioned to portray Fitzwilliam, joining his companions Jack, featured in my standing cat sculpture, and Dan Dan, in my Sitting Cat sculpture. Although I never met Fitzwilliam, I aimed to capture his gentle presence in a dynamic and engaged pose. However, I didn't quite get his scale right, as the client's memory of him was as a gentle giant, and the sculpture didn’t fully reflect that size. While I’m pleased with the character and modelling of Fitzwilliam, this commission taught me valuable lessons about accurately representing size when working from photos. It highlighted the importance of being meticulous in conveying scale through the photos and videos I share with clients who cannot approve the finished clay model in person.

How its made: Bronze metal powder is mixed with a resin to make the Bronze Resin material, which has the appearance of Foundry Bronze metal. This process creates a material that is more affordable and lightweight.
