“I modelled the Baby Turtle sculptures to highlight the struggle of endangered marine species. There is a lot of concern about the degrading quality of the water in our oceans and by the overhunting of several amazing species. I believe art can help people think about why these precious animals should be protected. Dozens of the turtles were shown together amidst a pile of human wrappers and waste for an exhibition highlighting conservation in London.”

Tanya Russell is a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and her sculptures are hand cast by a British foundry. Her Baby Turtle ornament will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This casting is a perfect recreation of the original bronze statue and bears the artists signature and its own unique edition number.

How its made: Foundry Bronze refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). It is more robust than bronze resin and will appreciate in value.
