“I really love pigs and so wanted to sculpt them. I think they are sweet and intelligent creatures and have such a sculptural shape. It makes me really sad that they can be treated so badly and not seen for how beautiful they are.
I wanted the sitting pig to capture some of their lovely nature, curiosity and surprising gentleness. The sitting pig was part of a family of pigs I did with a lying pig and a little piglet.”

Tanya Russell is a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and her sculptures are hand cast by a British foundry. Her Sitting Pig ornament will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This casting is a perfect recreation of the original bronze statue and bears the artists signature and its own unique edition number.

How its made: Foundry Bronze refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). It is more robust than bronze resin and will appreciate in value.
