“I was commissioned to create a lovely camel by the departing Master of the Grocers guild. The Grocers is a City of London Livery Company, and the Company’s emblem is a camel. There are a few very interesting depictions of the Grocer’s camel, including some reliefs, and I had a lot of fun transcribing the camel into my own 3d version for the client. The first camel was designed with saddle bags marked with clove symbols, and a harness made in delicate bronze strips.
It is always a pleasure working on exotic animals, as it provides a wonderful opportunity to research at new and exciting source material. Dromedaries are beautiful creatures in their own right, and in this case I also had the pleasure of investigating guild history to find the material I needed to create my camel statue.”
