“This Single Whale sculpture is one of my earlier sculptures. I sculpted it for myself as I think they’re beautiful and I love their gentleness. I enjoy their family bond and I later went on to sculpt a humpback Whale and Calf.
The humpback whale was hunted almost to extinction by the 1960s. They are now a symbol of world conservation efforts. I really hope that we can continue to protect this wonderful species. If we can combat entanglement, ship collision, sound pollution and endemic plastics, we can help the Humpback Whale recover and heal our oceans.”

Tanya Russell is a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and her sculptures are hand cast by a British foundry. Her Whale ornament will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This casting is a perfect recreation of the original bronze statue and bears the artists signature and its own unique edition number.

How its made: Foundry Bronze refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). It is more robust than bronze resin and will appreciate in value.
