One of my passions is pre history and visiting ancient sites. I visited Stony Littleton longbarrow several years ago when I lived in Wiltshire. It resides on the side of a hill near the village of Wellow in Somerset. I was fascinated by the large ammonite fossil on the portal stone. Spiral shapes have been found carved on stones in other chambered tombs, most famously Newgrange in Ireland. Finding a stone with a natural spiral shape must have been hugely significant to the people who constructed the tomb.
