A lot of my work is inspired by pre-history which is one of my passions. I was intrigued by an image of a standing stone with enigmatic Pictish carvings of a serpent shape and circular and linear patterns. This is my take on the subject, very loosely based on the original stone.

Full description
This image of a standing stone with Pictish inspired carvings, is created using a monoprint background with added coloured pencil drawing. The background is printed in shades of turquoise and light green, with circular and curving lines. The shapes are echoed in the drawing on the stone, with a serpent at the top and circles and linear designs in shades of orange, olive green and brown. This mixed media combination of print and drawing is signed Edition Variable (EV) and is one of three varying designs.
Image size 21cm x 15cm, on heavyweight acid free cartridge paper.
