Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.
I love collecting things discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. My favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-created into something new. Bits and bobs of lives all waiting to find new homes.

Additional terms
Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each piece comes with a short bio of where the ceramic came from, date found and re-created. Some shards collected are used as found, others are cut randomly which shape the final work. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.

Re-Created into Earrings February 2023
In July 2020 I found a small decorative plate set which was damaged and destined for recycling. I love collecting and immediately saw how attractive the pattern appeared with strong rich blue and orange, hand-painted. The plates were chipped and cracked badly so I thought the process of creating shards for any project might completely destroy any pattern.
I gently clipped the edges with a small tile cutter, random shapes formed into varying pieces. Luckily the plates broke in a manner where a lot of the pattern survived. Every shard is different but sometimes fragments develop in a way that suggests pairs.
These tiny stud earrings are oval in shape and show parts of the orange hand painted flowers. Created from two small shards which I initially missed and found a couple years later. Abstract design, completely unique, one of a kind.
The idea is to re use ceramics, to create new things from old lost pieces. The earrings are similar in shape but not exact, the intention is to keep the original feel of the material, the jewellery is not meant to be highly polished or perfect.
Each earring approximately 11mm x 6mm x 2mm
Delivered in gift box, gift bag made with recycled materials and includes short bio.
