This clock is from my latest (2022) Collection of rectangular wooden wall clocks that I have been exploring since the 1980s. The display of time is an integral part of the design (as opposed to ‘applying’ a bought in dial or numerals) and the use of a light coloured sycamore timber with contrasting ebony ensures clarity and legibility of the time. With the use of beautiful timbers, my clocks are designed to be enjoyed, like a painting, whether you are telling the time or not (!).

Full description
This handmade Rectangular Pendulum Wall Clock is designed to be enjoyed, like a painting, whether you are telling the time or not (!) and will be an attractive feature of your wall decor without taking up much wall space. The clock makes an ideal gift to a loved one or to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, housewarming, retirement, anniversaries or a wedding.
The Clock is made from solid ‘ripple’ sycamore timber with inlaid round ebony hour markers forming the Dial. Swinging gently below the Case is a handmade square Pendulum Bob in ripple sycamore with an inlaid central ebony dot that gives a soothing presence in your room whilst the clock movement is silent. The Black Pendulum Rod is also an integral feature of the design.
Ripple or ‘fiddleback’ (seen on the back of violins) sycamore is harder to find than ‘crown cut’ or straight grained sycamore and has a beautiful ’tiger’s eye’ effect with the play of light on the timber. The ebony comes from 1980s stock which I still have in my workshop prior to any export bans.
To highlight the iridescent of the ripple sycamore, it was finished with the cut of a super sharp and hardened plane blade without using sandpaper that can cloud the grain.

- Wooden Pendulum Bob is 37mm x 37mm x 8mm (1.43” x 1.43” x 0.3”).
- The overall height including the Pendulum is 272mm (10.7”)
