The silver birch wood was kindly donated to me from a garden where the tree had fallen in a storm.
This spoon is part of a series of spoons that I have created by drawing directly on to the handle and carving around the design to form a relief carving of a tree. The inspiration for the design comes from nature and my love of trees. I feel that this is a strong design and visually appealing and it is a style I will develop further.

Full description
An attractive and practical wooden spoon featuring an intricate design on the handle. The spoon measures approximately 24cm long and the bowl is 7cm at the widest point.
The spoon has been carved from a piece of silver birch. On the handle is an elaborate relief carving of a leafless tree, creating an interesting feature on the spoon. The spoon has been treated with a solution of bicarbonate of soda to help bring out the colour, then coated with a layer of linseed oil and finally burnished with a smooth pebble to create an attractive finish.
Once purchased, the item will be beautifully wrapped and sent to you in eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging, which is fully recyclable. You will also receive information about how to care for your wooden utensil.
