This is part of a series of pieces using collage to create surface. I was inspired by the fragility of paper as it is ripped, torn and cut and wanted to capture this in a more permanent form. Working with collage and casting also offered the chance to replicate found object which I feel offers an interesting contrast to the shallow surface captured with paper.

Full description
This dish has a slight relief surface created by a collaging and casting process. The surface captures the qualities of paper in this unique piece. The black clay has been glazed at the front with an antique white glaze, giving warm honey tones. The front of the dish has been glazed and the back is untouched, so the raw qualities of the black clay used to make this piece nicely contrasts the glazed and textured surface. Each of my pieces are handmade and display the quirks and individuality that this process offers. Although the collage surfaces have been used across pieces, each is unique in composition, colour, scale and form. Size: 17.8cm height by 17cm width by 2cm depth.
