freehand machine and hand embroidered zombie hedgehog fabric bookmark.
these bookmarks are quite substantial, measuring approximately 25 cm x 6 cm (10” x 2.5”) and are machine washable.
the sweet zombie hedgehog is in red cotton, grey cotton linen & corpse blue irish linen. he's snuffling along whilst spring blossoms whoosh about in the hand embroidered breeze.
his eyes and nose are hand embroidered.
i individually hand-cut each piece of fabric, and then (very patiently!) layer & applique them onto cotton calico to build up the image, before “drawing” the intricate details on freehand, using free motion embroidery.
this bookmark is made entirely on a domestic sewing machine – there is no computerised wizardry here - everything is cut, stitched and handmade, with care, by me, ensuring each item is unique, well made and securely constructed.
due to the very nature of free motion embroidery & handmade, each bookmark will vary eeeever so slightly.
these bookmarks are made up with heavy weight calico, stiffened with interfacing, and the edges are neatly top stitched.
i prewash all of my fabrics so they should not shrink when washed.
