I enjoy crocheting with natural fibres, mainly cotton, and many of my home decor items use recycled braided cotton cord or recycled cotton T shirt yarn. I fell in love with the colour of these unusual yarns and I'm enjoying exploring how they can be used in my crochet creations. Expect to see more sari silk on here in the coming months, it comes in such vibrant colours and is ethically produced too, empowering women's cooperatives in India, helping families to live away from shanty towns and have a more sustainable life.

Full description
A small crocheted container made with a mixture of recycled yarns including, premium cotton braided cord, sari silk chiffon ribbon and banana yarn, all in shades of purple.
I created the base from the braided cord to give shape and stability and the gently rounded sides are crocheted in a mix of silk ribbon and banana yarn. The sari silk ribbon gives the bowl an interestingly varied and rustic appearance and the banana yarn adds a lovely soft, pearly sheen. The sari silk ribbon is produced from remnants of saris collected from industrial mills, ethically sourced from India. The ribbons are made by tearing the fabric into strips, then knotting or sewing them end to end to make gorgeous ribbons from what would have otherwise been waste material.
This attractive little container is a useful size for storing bits & bobs around the house, on a dressing table or desk, or just used for display, especially in any sunny room which highlights the glossy, banana yarn.
Measurements: Approximately 12cm wide at base, 9.5cm wide at inner top edge, and 6cm in height.
Care instructions: I recommend a gentle surface clean with a damp cloth to remove dust but item may be carefully washed by hand at 30C. Reshape whilst damp and leave to dry; Do not bleach; Do not iron; Do not tumble dry.
