Merino wool felt picture of a dolphin silhouetted against a mixed blue starburst background.
This artwork is made using a combination of wet and needle felting techniques.
Due to the wet felting process it is one of a kind and no two designs are ever identical.
The background is wet felted. It is a process that involves laying down multiple layers of raw un-spun merino wool, which is then moistened and repeatedly rolled until all the wool fibres mesh or 'felt' together. I don’t completely felt the wool so that individual fibres are still visible and add texture to the image. Once dry I added the dolphin shape (wet felted piece) via needle felting.
I love the simplicity of the dolphin off set against the blended background colours.
It is in a 15mm wide, 30mm deep black box frame with a white mount. The frame measures 240mm by 240mm (internal measurement) and the visible felt is 160mm by 170mm.
All measurements are approximate.
This picture comes complete in a simple glass fronted box frame that can be hung.
