Lapis Lazuli is an ancient rock, an aggregate of the minerals lazurite, calcite and pyrite.
It has been prized by human civilisations for over 6000 years.
Cleopatra famously used ground Lapis for her eye make-up and Renaissance artists made a costly pigment from it called 'ultramarine'- think of the blue headband worn by Vermeer's 'girl with a pearl earring'

Eye-catching earrings, each made from a 4x14mm Lapis Lazuli tubes, creamy-white freshwater Pearl and 5mm 'sapphire' Swarovski crystal bicone, separated by 2.5mm gold vermeil beads and hanging from gold vermeil wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with gold, and the wires are stamped '925'.
The Lapis Lazuli tubes are a lovely deep blue, with flecks of golden pyrite that add a subtle glint.
The freshwater Pearls have a soft, iridescent sheen and the Swarovski 'sapphires' add sparkle.
These earrings measure approximately 1.5 inches (4cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
Price includes delivery within the UK.
