The inspiration for the design of this clock came from a study and understanding of traditional clock and watch dials and a desire to make the minute and hour markers 'integral' with the 3D woodwork rather than 'applied' or 'printed' as an after-thought. There are even many contemporary clocks that do not include hour or minute markers which, in this design, are individually inlaid to dance over 3 dimensional canted frames.
Many traditional clocks and watches feature a separate ‘Seconds Dial’ in addition to the main ‘Minute and Hour Dial’ and this tradition is featured in this contemporary design.

This Diamond Pendulum Wall Clock in Burr Madrona and Sycamore features two Dials:-
The main ‘Minute & Hour Dial’ is veneered in burr madrona and has a solid sycamore surround that has 60 minute and hour markers inlaid into the canted frame; two contemporary ‘Pointer’ clock hands (imported from Germany) and roman numerals are used to display the time.
There is separate offset sycamore ‘Seconds Dial’ below which is a diamond pendulum made from solid sycamore and burr madrona that gives a soothing presence in your room. This Dial that has inlaid markers at 5 second intervals.
Madrona (or madrono) is an evergreen tree related to the strawberry tree, with white flowers, red berries, and glossy leaves, native to western North America
This ‘feature clock’ is suitable for living rooms, lobbies and offices and is a timepiece designed and handmade by Tim Ashby to be enjoyed, like a painting, as part of your wall decor, or to be given as a Special Occasion Gift to a loved one.
The overall size is 388mm x 388mm x 45mm.
The distance across the diagonal is 548mm.
The weight of the clock is 1516 grammes.
Two clock movements (standard and pendulum) are used.
A Template and nails for hanging the clock are provided.
Supplied in a quality white linen texture presentation box. Batteries included.
