I sourced the silver birch wood from a customer, after a storm had blown over a tree in their garden. This scoop was made from a small section of the wood and the shape of the off cut guided me towards carving this small, shallow design.

Full description
A hand carved wooden scoop made from silver birch with a light ebonising detail on the handle. The spoon measures approximately 14cm in length and the widest part of the bowl measures 6.5cm.
This small practical scoop, with a wide shallow bowl, would be useful for a variety of tasks within the kitchen. The handle of the scoop has been dipped in ebonising fluid, made from white wine vinegar and wire wool, then gently sanded to create an interesting detail to this piece.
The piece has been treated with a coating of linseed oil to cure the wood, then burnished with a smooth pebble, creating an attractive finish.
Once purchased, the item will be beautifully wrapped and sent to you in eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging, which is fully recyclable. You will receive information about how to care for your wooden utensil.
